I guess I have the same problem as many people, dishwasher wasn't turning on few times , it was fixed by unplugging and turning the breaker off. Now it doesn't want to work! We had an issue with the GE stove as well, and the washing machine, all happened this year.... They run for few years and just stop... I'm not buying this brand anymore. When we moved to our house, we chose GE for all our applications... Big mistake

It worked fine for a few years did its job only being run once a week, until like everyone else I noticed the pods stopped dissolving and then 10 minutes into a cycle it turned off completely. I got it to give me error code 817. I tried the hard reset but now after reading all of the reviews here I™™ll be just going shopping. It didn™™t clean the dishes well enough to spend the money on the parts and service to fix it.

Product worked well for a few years (4 years) and then started to not power on. Hard resets for a few weeks fixed the problem but now it doesn™™t turn on at all. Power is confirmed in the outlet but power isn™™t being received by the device. It appears to be an electric control board failure. Weighing replacing it or just going to a different brand all together™¦

Do not buy this model. I REPEAT DO NOT BUY THIS MODEL. Nothing but power issues like many have reported. Something is terribly wrong with this dishwasher. After the 5 year mark it dies. It has been a pattern for many. Some even sooner. It's a waste of money. I dont care for the automatic response offering help.. I will not pay additional money for a machine that dies on everyone who buys it. No thank you.

The dishwasher was great until it failed after 6-7 years of use. It stoped suddenly, I reviewed power and electric circuit and all good. Seams that its a quality issue that many people are experienced. I would be looking to replace it. As I don™™t think is worth to spend more money, it is unfortunate because all my kitchen appliances are GE and will like them look and feel the same.

My dishwasher GDT545PSJ2SS has had the same power issues reported by others. I am here to determine its dimensions to replace with one that does not come with the ongoing cost of having an electrician out to check power, etc. Take this model off the market and save others from the hassle of full loads of dirty dishes with nowhere to go in a dead machine.

I purchased this model in April 2018 for my downstairs bar area so this is not my main dishwasher. I run this dishwasher every other month at this most. Today when I tried to run it, the dishwasher had no power. Even before reviewing all the horrible feedback regarding this unit, I did turn the breaker off and then back on and nothing. Based on the other comments, I will not plan to put any $$ into fixing this. Why would I? Sounds like a nightmare and substantial costs to get it fixed and keep it running. Deeply disappointed in GE (a billion-dollar company) that they don™™t provide some type free service or a voucher for a new dishwasher. I have several duplexes and have always used GE appliances in my units. Not anymore ™ Whirlpool will be my new brand

My dishwasher is six years old, but I didn™™t move into the house full time until a few months ago. Until then the dishwasher was used very infrequently. Even when I moved in full time it was used maybe once every other week. Now after only a few months I have no power to the dishwasher. The circuit breaker is fine, no surge protectors are tripped. No power. It™™s dead. I hardly got any use out of it, and it™™s already dead!

Bought this dishwasher a little over 4 years ago. It didn't even make it out of the warranty period without needing something replaced. After warranty, it's been having constant problems thinking the door is opening so I get the "on" chimes. I replaced the door switch, that didn't fix it. Now it won't even turn on. So I just replaced the main board, which cost $180 shipped from GE appliance parts, it still doesn't turn on. I'm a single adult, I don't wash a ton of dishes, this should be lasting longer than 4-5 years - without problems. This is my first and last GE appliance.

I won't just never buy this model again, I'll never buy another GE dishwasher again. I've done so much work to this thing to keep it going, replacing the flood float, computer, and now motor. This gave me about 8 months of good service.

Well I seem to be in the same boat as others. For the past year it has worked intermittently, with the door sensor being the issue. It™™s been running great for a couple of months, now I go to start it and lights are all on, like it™™s going to run, but nothing happens. Dishwasher is only 4-5 years old, this is ridiculous.

I had the same issue that a lot of people seem to have had. The control panel simply died on Thanksgiving and we had to hard reset the power from the breaker in the basement to get the dishwasher to turn on. Then it started making chirping noises when no one touched it, and eventually nothing we did would get the panel to light up, so we now have a fully powered dishwasher that can't be commanded to start. Completely useless. The control panel quality assurance is poor on this product, do not recommend.

First, the dishwasher started beeping at random times when no interaction with it was taking place, we joked it was saying good morning or good evening. Next, it powered down completely, requiring a hard reset at the power source. These resets worked for a couple of months. Now, dead. When researching this issue - it seems it is very common for this model (maybe others?). Control board replacement seems to be the fix, but I am not interested in paying hundreds of dollars for replacement parts or service when the experience of so many others with this same dishwasher has been the same - I no longer trust that money would be worth it. GE should back/fix this issue with free parts/service since it seems it is a QA issue with the control board. Dishwashers should last more than a couple of years.

I'll get right to the things I had issues with. 1) the dishwasher electronics failed after 4 years. The repair parts alone cost equal to a new dishwasher. Specifically, I had a door latch error. I replaced the latch switch, and the main control board but the problem persisted. I called a repair company who quoted me over $500 to replace the user interface module and door wiring harness (atop what I already paid for the circuit board and latch switch. Pretty disappointed this thing barely lasted 5 years and repairs even for a DIY'r were so expensive. 2) and this is minor compared to the previous, is that the plastic silverware trays warped pretty considerably in the heat. The looked worn and one of the pegs that holds the flap lid broke. It still held silverware without the organizing flap lid but it looked ugly. Clearly you get what you pay for.

Not sure how old my model is but I bought this house about 2.5 years ago with it included. The past few months I have been having to frequently reset the circuit breaker due to it randomly having no power. The past few weeks I noticed it beeping frequently even when it was closed & not running. This morning I noticed it had no power again and have tried all the tricks on YouTube/google/the manual and nothing. Seems like this is a common issue with this dishwasher after a few years of use.

When the washer worked, it was good and we had no issues. However, over the last year, it has randomly chirped sounds and we've routinely/weekly had to turn the dishwasher off at the breaker box, leave it off for a few minutes, then turn it back on. That turn off period had extended to hours and days, but it seems totally dead now. 5.5 years of use. Sounds like a control board issue from reading other reviews, so why not a recall? Any incentive to stay with a GE product when I look to replace this in the next couple weeks?

We moved into our house that was 3 years old and this dishwasher wasn't working at all. Turns out it was the control panel, we fixed it. 3 years later it is not drying anymore. I am not putting any more money into this dishwasher. I will not be purchasing any GE products, if this is the expected lifespan. Ive had much cheaper dishwashers in my 50 years on the planet and all lasted way longer than this GE product!!!!

This dishwasher will only last up to 5 years. We wash once or twice a week and don™™t leave food on the dishes. This dishwasher did an okay job 99% of the time. For the last few months of it™™s life, it would let out a chirp/beep every 30 minutes. Sometimes the outer light would be out or mysteriously come back on™¦until one day it just died. I™™m not going to pay a repair person $200+ just to revive it for another year or two. Save yourself the heartache and buy a better quality dishwasher from a company that cares about making quality products.

My friend and I both live in a new construction area and both have this dishwasher. Hers just died at less than 3 years. Yesterday, mine died after exactly 4 years. That's ridiculous for an appliance to not function after such a short period. Of course they will happily sell you the replacement control board, they seem to be making money off of sub-par products.

I bought a new house, this dishwasher was in it already. After about 2 years the unit would not power up. Unplugged it for about a week then tried it and it came back on. Then after about 3 years the unit wouldn't power on. The repairman said it would need a
new power unit on the bottom, and a new upper control board. I think that is the names of each part. 400.00 for both parts and labor. We are not going to invest that into a used appliance. We are currently looking at a Bosch, Fridgedair, or Amana.

On about the fiftieth time running the dishwasher, it stopped midcycle. Unable to restart it.
About 15 seconds after pressing the start button, a chime sounds and the front indicator light flashes amber, same pattern as when I press start but leave the door open. Further investigation revealed that the tub-side of the door latch sensor has failed. Very disappointed as this is not up to our expectations for GE quality and reliability.

Very disappointed in this early failure of a latch sensor. We found that the dishwasher stopped early in the cycle and tried to restart it without success. About 15 seconds after pressing the start button, a chime sounds and the front indicator light flashes amber, same pattern as when I press start but leave the door open. My husband, the reliability engineer, cut the power off at the circuit breaker and then restarted the machine as per GE consumer advice, but to no avail. Removed the tub-sided latch and same error chime/indicator light pattern. Google search of the problem reveals multiple suggestions for adjusting the dishwasher installation to insure a good connection between sensors when closing the door. The latch closes completely and securely, but the sensors have simply failed. Very disappointed in GE which has been such a reliable brand for us.

While this dishwasher is quiet and does do a great job washing dishes, we've run into a number of issues. Many of which unfortunately seem to be common failure points. This thing was was installed in 2017 and started giving us trouble around 2021. Now in 2022, we give up with it.
- Drain pump started leaking in the rubber hose between the pump and the bottom of the tub. Replaced with a newer version, and haven't really had issues with it.
- Screw holding the upper rack on the left side of the tub is lose and cannot be tightened. Seems like the threads were stripped out a bit from normal use (or the install technician over-tightened)
- Door does not register as closed. It's not the latch, it's likely an issue with the mainboard. I took the latch sensor apart and verified it's working correctly with my multimeter. I also shorted out the cable pins (as the sensor does) and the board does not detect the door being closed.
Based on other feedback, I'm not going to replace the mainboard as the replacements seem to fail fairly quickly. This whole dishwasher has been quite a hassle, so we're going to just replace it.

We typically buy GE and have had dishwashers that have lasted years. This one stopped working. We had a new motherboard installed and it worked for 2 weeks and stopped again. Now we have to buy a new dishwasher as there is no other possible repair.

We normally buy GE but this was the worse design. The top spinner constantly pops off and you have to spend time pulling out the shelves to reconnect the spinner. I even thought of selling it on OfferUp and buying a different dishwasher but there was the same model already listed at a low price so it™™s not worth the hassle. I also called customer service and the lady who I spoke to in regards to seeing what can be done was very rude and hung up on me.

It worked okay for the first few years, but it is now less than 5 years old and it has died. There is something wrong with the electrical system. Unplugging it and plugging it in again worked okay a few times. Then it started staying "dead" for longer and longer periods of time before it would start up again. It has now been two weeks or so of washing dishes by hand, and my husband said it has started up again, finally. We check it just about every day to see if it will turn on. Today was our lucky day. We'll see how long it lasts before it dies again. I think when we fill it up with lots of dishes is when it seems to die. It can handle smaller loads easier, I guess. They're not making this model anymore, but if they were, I would not recommend. The one good thing about it is the interior racks didn't rust out like all of our previous dishwashers did. The interior still looks great.

My father, rest his soul was a GE engineer. So, two generations of loyal purchasers here. No more. This is an example of how they don™™t make things like they used to. I™™m so disappointed. This dishwasher is being replaced after only 4.5 yrs of use and we are empty nesters, one of us travels often so the dishwasher averages only 2-3 times a week use. That said, one could say that maybe we got a lemon, but this one replaced another GE dishwasher that was also less than 5yrs. Coincidence? Well, the house was built 9 yrs ago. All new appliances were purchased at the time and all GE. Our GE Profile fridge also has had to be serviced 3 times, with the processes taking multiple visits because repairmen don™™t have the parts and have even ordered the wrong ones when we™™ve gotten closer to a fix find out they need to reorder. I™™m so done with GE and today we finally switched to a new brand to replace this dishwasher. My thought is that GE has strategically engineered products to not last as long. In almost 40 years as homeowners and as a Realtor, I know the average life of GE appliances is no longer aligned with all other brands combined and comparatively. Things can be repaired but cost half of what it would to purchase new. No thank you.

The door sensor stopped working after about a year. I purchased a new sensor and it didn™™t fix it. I™™m not spending over $100 on a new computer board and hope that that does the trick. I don™™t expect a dishwasher to give up the ghost after a year.
