i purchased this player on 6/21/18, almost two years ago to the day, and on 6/23/20 it will not stop turning off and on. i did not update anything. looking online this is a common problem for many samsung blu-ray players all of a sudden. this is very disappointing as i have spent thousands on samsung products but will not continue if they cannot resolve this issue. a blu-ray player should not stop working after 2 years.

Drops wifi connection whenever you play a DVD, you have to log in again with your password. Every. Time.
Also there's no way to add Disney + to the streaming services. Apparently Samsung thought Netflix and Amazon were all there was ever going to be.

This has been the absolute worst Blu-ray player I have owned! It freezes up constantly, the remote never wants to work, and it has brand new batteries. It has been taken care of very well! Before Hulu was removed from the device, it would play a show or movie for 30 seconds and kick you completely off of the app. It has been like this since it was bought, new, out of the box! I would NOT recommend this to anyone. WORST Blu-ray player EVER!!

Bought this player mostly to watch hulu on my bedroom TV. Tried last week and suddenly the player no longer supports hulu and always has issues connecting to my Netflix account that I had to get to watch anything online through the player..... kinda of frustrating.... probably will be replacing it with another brand. Also it looks like it should be able to add new "software" but actually isnt able to add new programs for online viewing.

I have had my player for over 3 years now. Have watched any and all my DVD/Blu-ray discs with no problems. I love the Smart part. It connects to my Samsung TV immediately and together they have provided me the best entertainment. Love my Samsung products!

At $100 I expect a lot more. Ethernet only operates at 100MB and wifi disconnects a lot. Netflix and Youtube have to buffer a lot because of the slow ethernet and disconnecting wifi.

I've had two Samsung Blu-ray players thinking they'd be good quality because of the name. Despite having a turbo internet package through att, the device still lags when using WiFi. While watching a dvd tonight, the screen went black three times and I gave up. I really will enjoy bashing this thing with my nine iron tomorrow.

I bought this last spring of 2018 waiting for a TV to hook it up to, it's been sitting in the Box for almost a year. It doesn't even turn on! I put my ear up to the box and continually tapped the on button every 10 seconds to see if I could even hear a hum. Nothing! And yes I had it plugged in. I had everything hooked up! I should have checked it as soon as it got into my house! And I'm sure by now But it's far too late to return it. I'm really angry about this. I have reconnected my old PS back to the TV again. What a hassle! I'm giving one star to the Features, Performance, etc because I have no idea!

I bought this and it worked great for a while. Mainly my child uses this an well it stopped working 2 weeks ago. it can see the wireless networks but cant connect to them anymore and support has been worthless. Looking at the forums it seems to be a reoccuring issue everytime a software update comes out. one time it works the next time it doesn't. They claim its an issue with my internet.. but everything else works... and now support is saying that the issue may be with the software or firmware of the unit... no duh???? your the ones who put it out. and seems that everytime they do they screw it up

Good Blue Ray Player if that is all you want.
If you plan on using the smart TV features I suggest looking at a different product. The wifi connects at best 20% of the time.

My mother bought one of these, and has had nothing but problems with it. First off, who was the genius that designed the machine to not have a light or something to at least let you know whether it's on or not? On the rare occasion we are able to get it turned on, it won't connect to Netflix, or any other streaming products. I always liked Samsung products, but this experience has really made me think twice about buying another product from this company.

movies have a good 720-1080p resolution according to my TV but in the main menu the resolution is a rather poor 360p. also, in the main menu, the display tends to darken on every TV its been attached to.

Device wouldn't go on line. Samsung said it needed a software update and sent 2 thumb drives with the update on each. Player would not accept the update. Even tried hard wiring it to get the update and it would not accept the update. Samsung said to send it to them to be repaired so I returned it to the store for a refund 2 days after purchase rather than fool with it. I have the same model purchased 18 months ago with the exact same problem and I never bothered to get it fixed while it was under warranty but thought Samsung would have fixed it by now. The DVD player is great but if you want to use the online features you may be disappointed. Have several Samsung products and have always been pleased but they let me down this time.

Worked fine for about a month. Now wont stay connected or wont connect at all to internet. If it does happen to connect to internet after i go to settings and manually type in everything, it wont connect to Netflix. And of course now its too late to return to Best Buy. I will stick with SONY.

These Blu-ray players are not worth buying. I exchange one because it was not working properly and now I have 2 more that are not functioning. They won't play any discs, have to be unplugged and plugged back in at times to get them to power on. One would only open the tray with the remote and not with the button to open the tray. I would not recommend that anyone buy these models. Samsung has great products but they failed miserably to me with these.

So far, I love this compact unit. It works fine and I've had no issues with dropping WI-FI. I don't get it not having a simple LED to show if It's still on. Does it shut itself down after a period of time or just stay on?

This is nothing special and in fact falls below the bar...Samsung is always removing apps and choosing to no longer support popular apps (what is the point of that?). I don't even use the device often and yet it always seems to freeze. Waiting for it to boot-up can also be time consuming. For example, sometimes it "pretends" it no longer has my wi-fi info saved or that it cannot connect and there is absolutely nothing from with my router. Overall, Samsung has a quality issues with many of its electronics (i own many Samsung device and most of them are problematic).
I recommend buying a better quality product from a reputable brand like Sony.

My last 2 DVD's came from Redbox.
After 20 minutes of playback this player muted the audio with a big pop-up message saying:
That the device was not authorized to play this dvd.
- A Cinavia Msg. code 3 anti-copy protection violation.
These are not pirated videos and I was not copying anything.
Samsung has been no help so far.
Very frustrating!

I will not be purchasing any Samsung products again.
I'll keep it short--this thing didn't work. I was on the phone and on the internet several times and the end result was the same--it would not connect to the internet (it also froze and had other issues, but network connectivity was the most constant culprit). I finally convinced Samsung that it needed to be fixed.
I sent it off (and bought a new competitor for the interim) and got it back with a note that said some internal component was replaced. I placed it upstairs in storage because I was happy with the competitor and the Samsung left a bad taste in my mouth.
Tonight (Nov '16 it was repaired, today is 6/13/17) I took it out and tried it and THE SAME PROBLEM PERSISTS. No series of changes work. I can hook the competitor up to the television and reconnect to wifi and it works.
I'm done purchasing Samsung. I understand products fail. But, getting them to fix them is like pulling teeth. Then, their third party fixers don't even fix it, apparently.

I purchased this player because of the wireless feature. It worked for a week, then would not connect to the internet. I returned it thinking the wireless card was bad. The second one also would not connect to the internet. My internet provider sent a tech thinking it was my service. My internet was fine. The poor tech worked on the device for an hour and was able to manually put in the required address numbers for it to connect. Again it worked for a short while and now will not work again even when I manually type in the required addresses. It will work if connected directly to the router. Unfortunately, the router is not in the room that I need it in.
DO NOT PURCHASE!!! WASTE OF MONEY!!!

I am so disappointed. I purchased this player about a month ago now and have been trying to look past the flaws of this player. I just can't. First off there is no power light button. Never realized how annoying something so little could be! Second of all in between episodes of Netflix the screen goes black and there is no way out of it. I could press any button on the remote or even on the DVD system itself and it doesn't turn off or go to another screen. I mean I can't even get the dang DVD tray to open. I have to literally unplug the whole thing. It is very inconvenient. I know its not Netflix because my other DVD player in the house works just fine with it. I've read other reviews about having the same problem. I wish I would of just returned it immediately. I will never buy another Samsung DVD player again.

We really like this product. It worked great playing DVD's and was set-up for Netflex & Amazon.
It worked well for about 2 weeks, then it would take a while to "load" everything...DVD's, Netflex & Amazon. Then it would not turn on with the remote, we had to press the power button. Then that didn't work. This is the second time that I will be returning this product. It must be a defect in the machine because it failure followed the same pattern. When this product works it great, unfortunately it doesn't last. This time I will not be replacing it with the same product.

I bought the Samsung Bluray player because I bought a Samsung TV last year, hoping that they would be highly compatible..
The player set up fairly well, but I had some confusion setting up the universal TV remote to also control the DVD player when I wanted to start playing a DVD. The DVD player Main Menu is a little awkward ... must continually press right-left-up-down arrows to make a selection. (I was hoping to use the magic pointer which is part of the Samsung Smart TV functionality.) The TV's Menu option DOES display new options for the DVD player once it is attached to the TV so this is helpful. (I can power on the DVD player from the TV Menu screen, I can eject a DVD from the TV Menu screen, I can also pause, fast-forward, play and stop a DVD from the TV's Menu screen, which is accessible from the Samsung TV's universal remote, so these are pluses.)
I am frustrated that I cannot tell when the DVD player is ON (There is no light).
One of the Bluray DVDs from Netflix would not play - the playback stopped almost immediately with NO explanation, and no feedback or troubleshooting information provided. This was frustrating because I had no information to give Netflix when I was looking for a way to diagnose the problem.
I CAN play non-Bluray DVDs, which is a very nice feature.
(I have not yet attempted any wifi functions, or other media.)

I just hooked up my blueray player last night and am so impressed. It was simple to hook up. The handbook explains everything in simple terms including a complete diagram of the remote control explains what each button does. There are so many features am pumped its got a usb port in front so you can pop a zip drive in and view photos as well as if you have photos on disc and music and movies. The applications too are unbelievable....its got the potential for 250 apps. Love it!!!
The only thing ide like better is if the remote was universal but that's no big thing.

This item was really good, for 2 weeks. A few days ago, it began freezing; in between titles on a DVD, or between episodes on NetFlix.
It did not shut down because the TV did not show a "no signal" message. However, the only way to restore functionality was to disconnect the power plug from receptacle and reconnect.
I used it with different TVs and HDMI cables. Same results.
I returned it for exchange today. Will see what happens in the next 15 days.

This item is not worth the money. As it plays DVDs and Blu-Rays well, it is very poor at streaming. Connectivity is a constant issue. It is mostly off line and unable to connect to wifi. When we finally get it to connect, buy the time you go to an app it disconnects again. This just goes on and on. So sad.

We returned the first one we bought when it kept freezing up and needing to be reset. The replacement one freezes less frequently but still does it. There is no way to see if power is on. Response time is slow for power on, eject disk, Netflix, etc.
Digital Audio output is awesome however.

I had to return the BluRay Player as it died after 5 minutes of playing. I was setting up the Netflix account and then poof, froze up and stopped working. I was so excited about the features but disappointed when I couldn't get it to work. I had to return it. Still waiting on my refund..... Been a few weeks. I returned the item immediately.
